Hoya medinillifolia (Apocynaceae Asclepiadoideae), a new species from lowland forests of Sarawak, Borneo

Summary: The new species, Hoya medinillifolia Rodda & Simonsson is hereby described and illustrated. It is similar to the widespread Hoya multiflora Bl. and to the Philippine endemic Hoya platycaulis Simonsson & Rodda due to the erect growth habit, the lanceolate, coriaceous leaves and the juvenile flattened stems. It can be easily separated from these because of its heart shaped corona lobes and the different leaf venation.

The new species has been published in Webbia 66(2): 149-154 on 29 Nov. 2011 http://www.unifi.it/riviste/webbia/page7/page7.html
